It’s not always easy to predict when you’re going to be hungry. No matter how perfectly timed your meals are, you may still occasionally find your stomach growling when you least expected it. For me, I always start to get peckish at the most inconvenient moments, like when I’m in the middle of running an errand or in the throes of writing, and I just do not have the time to stop what I’m doing to whip up a snack.
Instead of ignoring my hunger, I’ll reach for a shelf-stable snack, which I’ve taken to meal prepping in bulk so that I always have something quick and easy around. These 17 snack recipes are some of my favorites because they’re easy to make a lot of, and they’ll stay good at room temperature for at least a month. Store them up in plastic baggies or food storage containers and keep them at your desk or in your backpack, gym bag, or car so you always have something on hand when you’re suddenly hungry.
